November 3rd, 2003 Month 7 photos are here! I realize that I'm getting farther and farther behind but hopefully Month 8 and 9 will be up shortly. Anton is keeping us busy and there's precious little time for things like updating the site.
Unfortunately, it now seems that dotPhoto won't let you save the images anymore, you'll only be able to view them. Looks like I'll have to stop using dotPhoto and create my own gallery where you can save the images. In the meantime, send me an email along with the numbers of the pics you want and I'll get them to you.
August 22nd, 2003 Yesterday the floor, today the stairs! It's official: crawling changes everything. Today Anton decided to tackle the stairs and after a few tries made it all the way up. Mommy and Daddy must be more alert and ever vigilant.
August 20th, 2003 Anton started crawling today! After weeks of scooting around on his belly, he finally picked himself up on all fours and crawled. Cousin Kimmy and Grandma Donna can rest easy, he'll be able to read! (For those not in the know: Research shows that babies who walk before crawling have a hard time reading)
August 18th, 2003 Month 6 photos are here and there are plenty! Hope you have a little time to spend looking through them, you may have to come back more than once. No complaining though, the reason there are so many is because Anton got to finally meet so many of you on his cross-country trip. So, technically, it's your fault there are so many pictures. Don't forget to share any of the great pictures you might have taken while we were visiting, we'd love to see them!
What is Anton up to these days? Well, he can sit up on his own, is mobile and loves to stand and walk (with a little help of course). I'm not sure if his method of locomotion qualifies for crawling yet but he can get around a room pretty well. Life is about to change forever, I can feel it.
Still no download area but if you let me know which pics you'd like for printing, I'll get them to you somehow. Or, you can just order the prints from dotPhoto, your choice.
July 11th, 2003 Happy days are here again! Month 5 photos have finally arrived after a long hiatus and picture drought! We promised there would be more than Month 4 and there are, so enjoy. I realize Month 6 pics are also overdue -- hopefully, these will tide you over for a little while longer...
Unfortunately, the download area isn't working right now, so you'll have to make due with the dotPhoto gallery. I'll try getting the download server working again ASAP so you can have hi-res pics for printing.
As for Anton, he's still topping the growth charts and has been up to all sorts of things since the last posting. He's turned 6 months old, started eating solid foods, can almost sit unaided, can do one full situp, loves to stand (and is very proud of it), and rode in a carseat for 4000 miles to visit family and friends back in Chicagoland (his first tooth came in on the return trip). As you can see, he's been a busy boy!
May 13th, 2003 Month 4 photos are here! You can download them here for printing. New .zip files too! (pics 02-30-9.2MB, pics 31-66-9.5MB)
Not as many pictures as the past few months but there are still some cute ones. We promise to make up for it next month!
April 30th, 2003 Anton is four months old today!
At his four-month checkup yesterday, he weighed 16 pounds, 15 ounces, and was 27 inches in length. (95th percentile for weight, and 75-90th percentile for length). Doc says that puts him at the average length of a seven-month old and weight of a six-month old.
He's healthy and growing well, but no teeth yet! Although, we are going through at least three soaking wet bibs a day trying to keep up with all the drool!
April 25th, 2003 Anton loves his doorway jumper and really goes to town. He could jump in it all day if we let him, and sometimes he plays so hard, he falls asleep in it!
April 20th, 2003 Happy Easter! Boy, bunnies sure taste good!!
April 19th, 2003 Anton weighs in at 16.5 lbs today and has been drooling a lot! Maybe he's teething?
April 8th, 2003 Month 3 photos are here! You can download them here for printing. New .zip files too! (pics 01-28-8MB, pics 31-69-9.4MB, pics 70-123-9.8MB, pics 128-170-9.7MB)
April 6th, 2003 "I'm not fat, I'm just big boned." Anton weighs in at a healthy 16 lbs today, firmly placing him in his age group's top 5% for height and weight. No wonder my shoulder hurts...
April 1st, 2003 Anton is walking! He took his first steps today! Alright, just kidding - April Fool's! But, he did manage to roll over again, twice!
March 31st, 2003 Anton is three months old today!
It's also Mommy's first day back in the office 25 hours a week and Daddy is at home playing "Mr. Mom." We didn't get a lot of sleep last night due to adjusting to the new routine, so Mommy's first agenda item after work was to kiss Daddy and Anton "Hello," and go take a nap.
Mommy played her first soccer game tonight since May while Daddy and Anton cheered her on. We lost 7-2, but it sure was great exercise and lots of fun! Too bad Daddy can't play - he's injured his shoulder - most likely from carrying Anton in his carrier. He's such a big boy!
March 30th, 2003 Anton rolled over for the first time around 6:15 PM while doing "tummy time." We're not sure if he even knew what he did, and if he hadn't ended up lying on his back, (he just moved so fast) we would've thought our eyes were playing tricks on us!
March 26th, 2003 Favorite words to try and mimic are: "I'm good," "good," "Hello," and "Hi." It will be interesting to hear what his first words will actually be. He smiles really big when we say "good," we think it's because it's so close to "goo," and he thinks we finally understand him!
March 24th, 2003 As hopeful as Mommy is, Anton's been back to waking up to eat twice a night. That one time a night occurrence was a one-time deal.
March 20th, 2003 Anton only woke up once last night - maybe he is on his way to sleeping through the night? Mommy can dream, can't she? Hopes this continues. . .
March 18th, 2003 Anton is 11 weeks old today!
March 17th, 2003 Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Top o' the morning to you! How did Anton celebrate? With green milk, of course! ;)
March 16th, 2003 Mommy and Daddy cancelled their gym membership - Anton weighs in at 15 lbs! Soon he'll be double his birth weight. A chiropractor may be in order for Mom & Dad.
March 11th, 2003 Anton is absolutely captivated by his mobile. He laughs, coos, and screams in delight. He's 10 weeks old today.
March 9th, 2003 Anton weighs 14 lbs 9oz. Seems as though he's gaining an ounce a day. If he keeps this up, he may be 32 lbs. by his first birthday.
March 6th, 2003 Munchkin getting ready for a walk outside with Dad.
March 4th, 2003 Anton is nine weeks old today!
March 3rd, 2003 Month 2 photos are here! You can download them here for printing. New .zip files too! (pics 01-30-9.8MB, pics 31-55-9.3MB, pics 56-69-5.1MB, pics 71-98-8.7MB)
Sorry the postings have dried up lately. The novelty hasn't worn off but the work has definitely kicked in. Mommy and Daddy are trying to get sleep and finish up some projects around the house, doesn't leave too much time for Websites but I promise to try harder. Here is the last month's worth of updates (as best I can remember) and pictures.
February 27th, 2003 Mommy started back to work today. She's working from home 25 hours a week, although a third of those hours are earned in the office when dropping off and picking up more work. She misses being with baby!
February 26th, 2003 Anton's 2 month checkup was today. He's eating like mad and getting bigger by the day, he's even started outgrowing some of his outfits! Anyhow, he now weighs in at a hefty 13 lbs 3oz. "He's not fat, he's just big boned!"
February 25th, 2003 Anton is eight weeks old today!
February 23rd, 2003 Anton has started mimicking us when we stick our tongue out at him. He thinks it's great fun and it usually gets a big smile. I know it's not the best thing to teach our boy but it's too cute to stop.
February 18th, 2003 Anton is seven weeks old today!
February 14th, 2003 Happy Valentine's Day!
XOXOXO!!
February 11th, 2003 Anton is six weeks old today!
February 5th, 2003 Grandma Kathy and Aunt Amanda came for a visit. Amanda slept most of the time and when Mom was around the baby there was very little chance you were going to get him away from her. They're so cute together, I'll post the pictures soon.
February 4th, 2003 Anton is five weeks old today! Wow!
February 3rd, 2003 Week 4 photos are here! You can download them here for printing. New .zip files too! (pics 01-20-9.9MB, pics 21-39-9.9MB, pics 40-59-7.4MB)
February 2nd, 2003 We're seeing Anton's first real smiles, it just can't be gas anymore!
January 31st, 2003 Anton is 1 month old today! At his checkup he weighed 10 lbs 14 oz. - that's over 2 pounds more than his birth weight and he's also grown 2 inches.
Week 3 photos are here! You can download them here for printing. New .zip files too! (pics 01-25-8.7MB, pics 26-49-8.2MB)
January 29th, 2003 A big BabyUrban.com "shout out" to Anton's newest friend, Harper Richard Kristiansen! See ya on the playground!
January 28th, 2003 Anton lost his umbilical cord today! Not sure yet if it's going to be an innie or an outie - only time will tell! He's four weeks old today.
January 22nd, 2003 Grandma and Grandpa Wilson came for a visit and enjoyed meeting their very first grandson. (Look at how much fun they're having in the picture!) While Grandma was busy cooking and freezing food for us, Grandpa and I finished up the nursery. Thanks for all the help!
January 21st, 2003 Anton is three weeks old today! He's our little pun'kin, although I worry we're already starting to teach him slang by calling him that instead of pumpkin. And Mommy's a technical writer - the horror!
January 16th, 2003 Week 2 photos are here! Not as many as last week but he's still just as cute. You can download them here for printing. New .zip files too! (pics 01-33-9MB, pics 34-56-9.2MB, pics 57-85-8.8MB)
Baby's second week was a big one! Lots of gifts and a bunch of visitors. He also met his first out-of-town relative (Aunt Cheryl), went out on the town for his first dining experience and took his first shopping trip to Costco. He's sleeping pretty well but Mommy and Daddy are still pretty tired, taking care of a baby is hard work but definitely worth it.
January 14th, 2003 Anton is two weeks old today. He's earned the nicknames fussy pants, fuss 'n' stuff, froggie, and sweatpea. Don't get us wrong, he's not really all that fussy, we just adore him so much even when he fusses! (And, he resembles a frog's stance whenever we have him on our shoulder to burp!)
January 7th, 2003 Anton is one week old today! New photos have been added to the album for Week 1. Yes, I know there are a LOT of pictures but we're new parents so cut us some slack. Besides, we know you just can't get enough of him either... You can download them here for printing purposes. If you want them all, there are 2 new .zip files(pics 83-110-5.9MB, pics 111-138-6.9MB)
I've also updated the site to reflect that Baby is now outside the womb. The "Countdown Clock" has been replaced with "How old am I?", "In the Womb" has been updated to "Picture Galleries" and I've added the gift registry and his list of books (Seuss and non-Seuss) to the left hand side. Enjoy!
The message board isn't working too well lately and I'm thinking about ditching it and opening a Yahoo! Group, the only downside is that you must have a Yahoo! ID to post. Would you still use the board if you needed a Yahoo ID? Please e-mail me with the answer.
January 6th, 2003 Look, the first picture of all 3 of us as a family! Aren't we adorable?
The good news for today: Baby is off of his phototherapy for jaundice, only 2 1/2 days on the lights, not bad Baby!
January 5th, 2003 Happy Birthday to me! Daddy turns 29 today! How does he celebrate? By working all day of course!
January 4th, 2003 Why is our baby glowing? No, we didn't send him on a field trip to Chernobyl, he's got a touch of the jaundice and is on home phototherapy for the next 3-5 days. He has to be under the lights at all times unless he's eating or being changed. This sucks, I want to hold my son. We'll let you know how it turns out...
January 2nd, 2003 Photos, photos, photos! Here are the pictures of Baby Anton that we have so far, we think he's adorable and are pretty sure you'll feel the same. You can view the whole album online and order prints or download the pictures and print them yourself.
Here is the album for Week 1, you can view all the pictures and order prints. DotPhoto.com is the most reasonable online photo processor I've found, you can get a 4*6 print for $.29. Not much more than it'd cost to print them yourself on an inkjet, plus it's on Kodak paper.
If you want to print them yourself, view the album and write down the numbers of which photos you want to print. Then you can download them here as a high quality image that will give you the best print possible. If you want to download all the pictures, I've put them into 3 different .zip files in the same folder as the downloadable images (pics 1-30-7.6MB, pics 31-57-8.4MB, pics 66-82-6.2MB). Beware, these files are large and may take a while to download. If you don't know what a .zip file is or how to use it, send me an email.
Hope the pictures will tide you over until you get to see him in person!
January 1st, 2003 Happy New Year everybody! We got 2003 off to a great start by coming home to start life as a family, this might be the best year ever!
Our first diaper change at home was a comedy of errors. Since we didn't have the changing area properly set up, we were running around for everything and neglected to follow "Rule #1", cover the fountain. The diaper was wet and I didn't think there'd be any harm in violating "Rule #1"... wrong. I had to use my hand to cover the stream and keep it from shooting all over. I finally got through cleaning up the unexpected shower and was now positive that "Rule #1" no longer applied. He's a newborn, how much pee can there be? Apparently, the answer is plenty. I turned my head and when I looked back, a stream 3 times more powerful than the first arched back painted the wall. Lesson learned, "Rule #1" is not a suggestion.
December 31st BABY'S HERE! Anton Xavier Urban was born today at 9:34pm and weighed in at 8 lbs 8.5 oz and 21.5 inches long. Congratulations to all the new (both truly related and honorary) Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Grandparents, Great-Grandparents!
Chris started having painful contractions at about 4am this morning and thankfully let me sleep until about 8am. We got up, showered and headed into the doctors office to see if this was the real deal or not. It was, she was dilated 6-7 cm and her cervix was paper thin. We were admitted to the hospital around 11:30am and after a few hours, and an epidural, we were ready to go. Chris started pushing at about 6:05pm and stayed at it for 3 1/2 hours until he emerged, a perfect little boy. There were a few extra precautions taken immediately after birth because the labor was so long and intense, and Baby decided to wrap himself in the umbilical cord and lodge his shoulder under Mom's pelvic bone. The doctors gave him a thorough going over and pronounced him "OK" a few minutes later. So, we're all doing great (Daddy actually got his tax break in under the wire) and I can't think of a better way to cap off an old year and begin a new one, with a brand new BABY!
